About Daniel Colembie
Smooth. Fast. Victorious.
For nearly two decades, Daniel Colembie has consistently excelled in his racing career. He's acquired elite placement in speed racing challenges across the world. Daniel's affection for driving began at the young age of five, encouraged by the noise of rattling engines on a Belgium farm. Once old enough, he took on heavy machinery in annual competitions, perfecting his precision driving skills on tractors. As his love of racing matured, he moved into pro training.
Colembie earned his first championship in Belgium in 1987, winning the Regional
Champion Motocross 500 and Belgium National Champion Motocross 500. Today he
faces an exhilarating team of pro racers as he hits full-season racing with
Grand-Am Cup.
Daniel Colembie's interest in racing started at the young age of five, encouraged by the rev and rattling of engines on the Belgium farm; As soon as he grew old enough, he was racing tractors in annual competitions, demonstrating exceptional control and maneuverability. His passion for speed and precision driving grew quickly, and he began training.
Motorbikes and cars were a natural progression. During those early years, he raced on his father's fields, developing the experience and edge to enter the competitive sport of motocross arena at 15.
In 1987, following race wins and podiums, Colembie won Regional Champion at
the National 500cc and earned the prestigious title of Belgian Champion at
the Nationals 500cc riding a Yamaha. In 1989 he took home
Regional Champion at the Internationals on a Kawasaki, and by 1991, Colembie
was a serious competitor in Jet Ski racing on a Kawasaki X2.
His auto precision and competitive nature thrived. Colembie raced in Europe in 1993, finishing third in the Renault-Clio 16v Cup Championship with one win, two second and two third positions out of seven races at the prestigious Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder circuits in Belgium.
He returned in 2000 to pro racing in Los Angeles, California, expanding into precision and commercial stunt driving. This gave him a chance drive, race and perform all at once. Then, in 2003, after successfully completing the Skip Barber Racing School and many lapping and racing days at Jim Hall's Kart Racing School, he took home a Regional SCCA Racing Licence.
In January 2004, Colembie officially began Regional racing; and in May of
the same year, he hit the SSCA National and BMW CCA tour. Colembie grabbed
11 wins with five second and third place victories. He took home five track
records this year alone! Colembie made his Professional debut in October 2004,
racing on the California Speedway in the Grand-Am Cup, qualifying second and
finishing third! Raced the full 2005 season in Grand-Am Cup with one win at
Daytona.
During this time, Colembie's developed a strong foundation of acting credits including the films 'The Onion' (to be released), 'After the Past', 'Born to Suffer' and 'The Vidrine 6 Shot'. He's appeared in television shows including WB's Jack and Jill, NBC's Veronica's Closet and Suddenly Susan. He's also been in 12 commercials including Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Andersen Consulting, Hollywood Celebrity Diet, Lens crafter, and AXPO. Colembie trained at the Bobby Chance Acting Workshop, works with voice coaches Robert Easton and Bea Carroll, and expands performance skills on an ongoing basis with actor and personal coach, Thom McFadden.
Born in Belgium, Colembie speaks fluent Flemmish, French, English, Dutch and
German, and has a working knowledge of Spanish and Italian. He's also a Motocross
Champion and Belgium Bronze Medal race car driver, skilled at Quad Cross, Auto
Cross, jet ski racing, yachting, surfing and water skiing, scuba diving, mountain
biking, golf, snow skiing and snow boarding. He is a trained precision driver
and operates heavy-duty machinery from tractors to 18-wheelers and semi-trucks.
He's a graduate of the Skip Barber Advanced Racing School and Car Control clinic,
the Skip Barber Race Series, Cart Formula Dodge RT/2000, a member of the
Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and a member of the Grand American Road
Racing Association.
2006 will be a full season in Grand-Am Cup racing a factory sponsored Chevy
Cobalt.
